It is our pleasure to invite you to the 7th KOCSEA (Korean Computer Scientists and Engineers Association in America) Technical Symposium, to be held at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles,CA from December 14th to 15th, 2007. The symposium is co-organized by KOCSEA and KUSCO (Korea-US Science Cooperation Center), and sponsored by KUSCO, KT Corporation, KSEA (Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association) and Bay Area K Group.

This symposium is a continuation of the joint workshops with KISS (Korean Information Science Society) initiated during 1990 - 1995 (held in Korea). These workshops have contributed in culturing collaborationsbetween the researchers in US and Korea. Most recently, the 6th KOCSEA Technical Symposium was held last winter. The symposium was summarized as a significant Korean computer scientists  event in a news article in the Digital Times (
http://www.dt.co.kr/).

The one-and-a-half day workshop will consist of invited talks by outstanding researchers and professors in various fields in IT. In particular, we will include a student interaction session where senior participants can share their experiences and companies can introduce opportunities. We expect that students in Southern California, including students at USC (University of Southern California), UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), Caltech (California Institute of Technology), and California State University, Los Angeles, will significantly benefit from this event. We will also include a panel session that will discuss cooperation issues and solutions.

Through this symposium, we hope to further increase the opportunities for meaningful collaborations between academicians and professionals in the US and Korea in the field of Computer and Information Science. In particular, this year we will promote participation of researchers and students from local institutes. The event will provide an opportunity for researchers and companies to present their latest technologicaladvances, and to interact with senior and junior members from the academia and industrial partners.

We cordially invite you to the technical symposium. Please let us know if you intend to take part in the symposium, and to what extent you wish to get involved (presentations, panel discussions, sponsorship, recruiting, etc.).

Sincerely yours,
