I am pleased to announce that 2010 KSEA South West Regional Technical and Career Development Conference will be held on February 13, 2010 at Norwalk Marriott Hotel.
With “Going Green Business and Sustainable Development” as the main theme, this year’s conference will be very special as it features:
1. Keynote speeches by renowned experts and outstanding technical presentations
2. Special career info sessions on Government Employment opportunities in science and technical fields presented by current government (city, county, state, and federal) employees
3. United States Army Corps of Engineers’ 2nd Recruiting event on the opportunity to work in Korea for Yongsan Army base relocation project as a federal employee

2월 13일 오전 8시부터 오후 4시까지 노워크에 있는 매리어트 호텔(13111 Sycamore, Norwark)에서 무료로 진행되는 이번 행사는 ▲미육군공병대 재한(在韓) 취업설명회 ▲과학기술계통 공무원 취업설명회 ▲그린 비즈니스 세미나 등으로 구성된다. 특히 협회원 뿐만 아니라 과학에 관심이 있는 일반인들에게도 참여 기회를 활짝 열어놓아 취업난으로 고민하고 있는 한인 1.5세나 2세 등은 다양한 정보를 제공받을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
특히 지난해 10월 공병대 하와이 지부와 KSEA-SC가 함께 개최한 주한미군기지 건축프로젝트와 관련한 취업설명회가 성공적으로 치러진 것에 탄력을 받아 2차 설명회를 열고 한국에서 일할 한인기술자들을 추가로 모집한다. 지원이 가능한 사람은 전기, 기계, 화재, 설계, 건축, 디자인 등에 경험이있는 전문가로서 시민권자여야 한다.
특히 이번에 선발되는 전문기술자들에게는 연방 공무원 자격이 주어지며 평택 주한미군기지 건설이 끝나는 2013년에도 미 전역에 있는 공병대에 파견 근무할 수 있다. 이날 설명회에 참가자에 한해 이력서 제출처 등이 공개된다.
KSEA-SC 심연 회장은 "불황으로 힘들어하는 한인들을 위해 최대한 일자리 창출에 행사의 초점을 맞춰 준비했다"며 "현재 과학기술계통의 공무원으로 일하고 있는 회원들이 대거 참석해 현실적인 취업방안도 소개할 예정이니 많은 참여를 부탁한다"고 강조했다.
세미나는 영어로, 취업설명회는 한국어로 각각 진행되며 점심식사도 무료로 제공된다. 예약은 필요없으며 행사 당일 선착순 300여명이 입장 가능하다. 보다 자세한 사항은 KSEA-SC 웹사이트(www.ksea-sc.org)를 통해 알 수 있다.
